Prison Ministry


“Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” (Hebrews 13:3)

Ward Memorial AME Church Prison Ministry provides support and outreach programs on behalf of persons incarcerated, their families and the community to which most will return.

This Ministry is engaged in a variety of activities including:

Intercessory prayer for inmates and their family.

Collection of items and supplies to give to the inmates.

Development of Bible Studies and Workshops for the inmates.

Mentors to ex-offenders returning to the community.

This Ministry works in association with:

      DC Department of Corrections – obtained certification to minister within the jail.

      DC Court Services and Offenders Supervision Agency (CSOSA) – obtained training to minister to ex-offenders
